I bought Jon's cape at an auction in Longleat on Sunday 18^th August 1996. The auction was conducted by John Nathan-Turner, a former producer of the programme. Amongst the items being sold were a number of lots billed as 'The Pertwee Collection'. John Nathan-Turner informed all attenders at the auction that these lots were being sold by Mrs. Ingeborg Pertwee, the widow of Jon Pertwee, following Jon's death (on Monday 20^th May 1996). I bid for, and purchased two lots. One was Lot 55, Jon Pertwee's own copy of the the Doctor Who signature tune and the other was Lot 64, Jon's cape, described as "Iverness cape … grey herringbone with purple lining".

This was Jon's cape that he wore as the Doctor in the 30^th Anniversary Special 'Dimensions in Time' which was transmitted on Friday 26^th November 1993 and Saturday 27^th November 1993.

He can be seen wearing the same cape on the cover of the Radio Times dated 20^th - 26^th November 1993. The successful purchaser of the cape will also receive a mint condition copy of that Radio Times (as I have two original copies).
